Opening machine barrel

所属分类: Barrel

The open-barrel configuration is a specialized barrel design for twin-screw extruders that features an opening at a specific location along the barrel, in contrast to the closed-barrel design. This opening is typically used for material feeding, venting, or lateral material diversion. Depending on the location and function of the opening, open-barrel configurations can be classified as follows: - Side-opening barrel: An opening is provided on the side of the barrel, primarily for venting. This effectively removes volatile components, moisture, and other gases from the molten material, thereby improving product quality. - End-opening barrel: An opening is provided at one or both ends of the barrel, enabling material feeding or lateral feed introduction. This configuration is often employed in specialized processing applications. - Above natural vents or vacuum vents, it is generally necessary to install an appropriate “material-blocking block” within the opening to minimize backflow.

Technical Details of the Opening Barrel

Model: Φ18 mm ~ Φ400 mm

Bushing material: D2/W6/H6/H26

Performance: Wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant

Opening barrel function

• The location of the vent should be optimized according to process requirements to achieve optimal venting or flow diversion.

• The size of the vent opening should be designed based on the gas generation rate and the exhaust velocity; an opening that is too large or too small will both compromise the exhaust performance.

• To improve exhaust efficiency, a vacuum system can be connected.
